Little do you know this museum has all of the ancient history of the first settlers who came to this area. So William T.J. Realty decided to go take a peek into the past of Chambers county. What is the Chambers county museum about?
This museum showcases the history of the people who settled in Wallisville and Chambers county and after that. It was the dream of John Middleton to restore the town of Wallisville and create the Wallisville Heritage Park. He moved in several buildings and the hurricane took those away and so we’ve come down to this building which also houses the post office.

Our physical address is: 20136 I-10 East we are at exit 807 and either direction on Interstate 10.
What kind of programs do you have?
Some of the history classes come out and we have speakers come out. We let them tour the museum and the schoolhouses and then we have a speaker for them.
What separates you from the other museums?
We have knowledge of things that most people don’t. As far as I know, we’re the only museum who is a museum of people. We know the stories of the people who settled here.
What kind of artifacts do you have?
We have things that are specific to certain people like we have one room that honors Quinton Jackson who was a rancher, farmer, and constable for many years. Also we have another room where we honor Sarah Richpict who was an Indian prince who settled in this area. We have gun and hunting paraphernalia that honors kinmen Clark the marsh man from this area. we have a lot of things that were personal to two different people.

This is a small museum with a big library of genealogy. They have old artifacts to go along with the genealogy. Just sitting down speaking with Tylene made me think that she should have her own video series about all of the interesting things that she’s aware of.
